Carmel Apple Betty
It's me again! One of my favorite things about baking for the holidays (Halloween-Christmas, I don't count New Years, who bakes for New Years?) are all the great spices and flavors. Cinnamon, hazelnut, nutmeg, allspice, peppermint I could go on and on. You don't really encounter these flavors as much on the other holidays so I enjoy having some fun with them.
So to stir up some yum for the familum I made this Apple Betty which turned out Apple Bettastic.
First, preheat your oven to 375 degrees and cut up your apples. You need about 4 cups sliced.
Then stir together 3/4 C. flour, 1 C. sugar, 1/2 t. cinnamon, 1/4 t. nutmeg, 1/2 t. salt. When that is blended, add 1/2 c. melted butter. Don't worry. It's CHRISTMAS, 1/2 c of butter really means 1/2 c of celery during Christmas.
Place your apples in an 8x8 baking dish and cover them with your heavenly mixture. Pop it in your oven for 45 minutes.
Serve warm with ice cream and caramel topping drizzled over the top. Do your best to save some for the rest of your family but don't try too hard. Happy Eating!
