Jordan Almond Easter Eggs & Chicks

Once I saw some Jordan Almond bluebirds by  SugarBelle, and I was IN LOVE. SMITTEN!!!  I decided though that chicks and eggs would be pretty darn cute too. So, I whipped some up.

I will admit though, when I was editing this photo, I couldn't help but add some hats and mustaches!! That part is digital, but they are still fun and adorable as they really are...

The great part is that there is no cooking involved. I love that the Jordan Almonds already come in a great egg shape :).

They are fun to serve in a bowl for a party They'll disappear MUCH quicker than boiled eggs, of course :)!

A tulle nest adds a bit of extra fun for serving...

Stick them in a cellophane bag and they make the funnest little Easter gifts for a teacher, friend, your kids, someone you visit teach... the list goes on.

They can be so simple and quick, OR time consuming. It all depends on how many colors and how much detail you want.

Click the "read more" button to find out how...

Supplies:
Jordan Almonds
Royal Icing
Gel Food Coloring (I like Americolor best for this, but Wilton works fine too)
As many #1 and #2 tips you have
Piping bags
Spray bottle, or teaspoons to add more water when needed.

Directions:
1. First, make a batch of Royal Icing.

2. Add the coloring you desire to the icing in separate containers... Of course black for the eyes, and orange for the beaks, and whatever other color you want.
Keep in mind that more colors = more time.

TIP: Make sure to keep the icing covered when you are not using it. It dries very fast!

3. Put the black icing in a piping bag with a #1 tip.  You are going to have to decide though if you need to add a few squirts of water from the spray bottle before you put it in the piping bag. If it's super thick, add a little bit.
** Americolor seems to thin the icing out more than Wilton gel food coloring.

4. Make two little dots for the eyes on a Jordan Almond.

5. Next, with the orange icing, add several squirts of water to thin it out a bit.
Pipe little triangles for the beaks.

6. Now just add what evercolors  lines, zig zags, polka dots, or shapes you want for the Easter eggs.
**Make sure to thin out the icing before putting it in the bags. It's trial and error to see what works here. Just have fun.

Now enjoy them yourself, or give them away!!

  1. These are so cute and I laughed at the mustaches. Somehow there's got to be edible mustache stickers for those eggs. Adorable idea Nancy!
